Women's Studies
An intensive interdisciplinary cultural science, Women’s studies, challenges students to write well, think critically, and analyze women’s issues effectively. In the Women's Studies program, students will explore the social construction of gender and the way it intersects with other forms of difference, specifically race, ethnicity, class, age, and sexuality. Knowledge derived from women’s studies courses will enable students to analyze current problems that women face in the areas of employment, the family, domestic violence, health and the legal system.
More than half of the world’s population are women, so an understanding of their experiences, history, needs and abilities is an asset to students who are considering careers in such fields as education, social service, government, business, law, the ministry, journalism, health occupations and childcare.
