This degree is appropriate for students interested in careers within the fields of athletic and recreation management, public relations/media relations, the fitness industry, college and professional sports, business, and sports retail marketing. Coursework includes coaching, facility management, accounting, macro/microeconomics, sports history, sports sociology, and legal aspects and ethics. There is also an internship at the end of the program.
After graduation students will be in a position to start earning immediately in some fields, such as officiating, as they articulate to a four-year institution. These institutions include Towson University, Bowie State University, Coppin State University, Morgan State University (Sports Administration), Stevenson University, McDaniel College (Sports Management minor), Goucher College (Sports Communication), Frostburg State University (Adventure Sports Management), University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Mount St. Mary University, and Washington Adventist University (Sports Administration/Coaching minor).
