TEAS Testing

The test is called the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS). This is a multiple-choice assessment of basic academic knowledge in reading, mathematics, science and English and language usage.

All Nursing, Dental Hygiene and Radiography applicants must take the ATI TEAS exam. Nursing applicants can take the Nursing TEAS. Radiography and Dental Hygiene applicants should take the Allied Health TEAS. If only one exam type is offered in your area, then take the one offered.

The ATI TEAS is now offered in 4 formats - TEAS at ATI (online), TEAS at Institution (online), TEAS at Institution (On-Campus) and TEAS at PSI (On-Site). The School of Health Professions will accept any of these formats for admission consideration. You can register for any option online.

CCBC currently offers TEAS at Institution (On-Campus).

CCBC programs will use the TEAS exam scores completed within 2 years of the TEAS exam deadline for admission purposes. If the applicant is happy with the score on the TEAS exam and it is not older than two years, then the applicant does not have to re-test.

• All applicant seeking admission to the Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Blended Registered Nursing, RN for Paramedic and Military, Radiography, LPN-RN Bridge and the Dental Hygiene Programs at CCBC are required to participate in pre-admission testing prior to the ATI TEAS deadline for the respective program.
• We recommend registering and completing the exam early. No extensions will be granted.
• You may register to take the TEAS exam at a CCBC testing center or at a PSI testing center. 

Students taking the test must have a CCBC ID number (90*-**-****), a credit card and an email address to complete the online registration. Be sure to enter your CCBC ID number when registering so that we can associate your test with your application.

Students must register for and take the ATI TEAS test by the exam deadline. Tests that are taken after this deadline will not be used for the current admissions cycle.

You will need to schedule at least four hours to take the test. You must arrive ½ hour prior to the start of the test; and you must have your ATI registration number. The tests will start promptly at the scheduled times. Late arrivals will not be able to test.

You will need your ATI testing ID number, your registration receipt and a valid photo ID. Cell phones are prohibited while testing.

• Students are required to prepay and pre-register for the ATI TEAS test. The cost is listed when you register for the test. Payment is accepted using major credit cards. Students are required to pay the testing fee at the time the test date is scheduled. Students should take a copy of their receipt along with them on testing day. All costs are subject to change without notice.
• The exam is estimated at CCBC for $122.00 (subject to change without notice)
• The first transcript may be included in the cost. Additional transcripts at cost.

Note: To have your exam scores reported to the CCBC SHP Admission's Office, you must choose CCBC TEAS as the test score recipient.

Additionally, we have tutors who can assist with any Biology and Math questions. Students are encourage to brush up on their Mathematic skills by visiting www.KhanAcademy.org for concept review. There's also a Writing Center available for the English and Reading sections.

If you take the test once and feel you could improve your score, you may retake the test again during the admission cycle. You are required to pay for the test each time it is taken. CCBC will use the scores associated with the highest Total Scaled Score achieved within 2 years of the TEAS deadline.

No extensions of the ATI TEAS deadline date are granted.

Test scores should be available online at www.atitesting.com after completing the exam. You must log in to the ATI website to obtain your test scores. If you cannot remember your username/password or if you do not see your test scores, you need to contact ATI.

The TEAS Exam is not a pass or fail test. Below are the score expectations for admission.

All Registered Nursing and Practical nursing programs:

• Required Proficient or higher in the Total Scaled Score
• Required 69% or higher in Reading

Dental Hygiene

• Required 70% or higher in the Total Scaled Score

Radiography

• Required Proficient or higher in the Total Scaled Score

Recommended and required score minimums are subject to change without notice.

The sub-test scores associated with the highest Total Scaled Score are the ones that are used. At no time will scores from different tests be combined to produce a single ATI TEAS score. CCBC will only use TEAS scores from exams completed within two years of the TEAS exam deadline for your program.

TEAS scores are valid for just two years. If the TEAS exam was taken more than two years before the TEAS exam deadline for your program, then you will need to re-test. If your scores on the TEAS exam do not meet the recommended or required minimums, then we strongly encourage you to re-test.

The School of Health Professions strictly enforces its Honor Code during testing: “I will neither give nor receive unauthorized aid on this assignment/examination and that I will report all violations I observe.” Any breach of this code will result in the exam being confiscated by the proctor and the tester being asked to leave. Students who are confirmed to have violated the Honor Code on the TEAS exam will be permanently deferred from admission into any program in the School of Health Professions.

All sections of the exam are required for admission consideration.
