Sports Nutrition Certification, Continuing Education Workforce Certificate
Sports Nutrition Fitness Trainers coach or instruct groups or individuals in exercise activities. Demonstrate techniques and form, observe participants, and explain to them corrective measures necessary to improve their skills. Work in athletic centers or gyms, senior centers, recreation centers, or private client's homes.
Program objectives
Upon successful completion of this Continuing Education Workforce Certificate, students will be able to:
- function more effectively as a sports nutrition fitness trainer to provide nutritional guidance for athletes suffering from illness or injury;
- create customized nutrition plans for athletes to help them achieve both dietary and professional goals;
- conduct individual assessments to perform body composition testing, and metabolic rate testing to design a plan to improve metabolic efficiency and performance;
- meet the eligibility requirements to be certified as a sports nutrition fitness trainer through AAAI/ISMA;
- maintain a level of client confidentiality, personal integrity, and professional standards;
- continue employment as a sports nutrition fitness trainer and pursue options to maintain the American Aerobic Association International/International Sports Medicine Association (AAAI/ISMA); and
- assume responsibility for continued professional and personal development through lifelong learning or continuing education.
