Tutoring and help with writing

Do you need help with your understanding your assignments? Are you not sure about your study skills? Then CCBC can help. We offer tutoring and academic coaching to help you be successful during your college career.

On each of our three campuses (also available at the Owings Mills extension center), the CRLA certified tutoring program in the Student Success Center offers individual and group tutoring while the Writing and Literacy Center provides expert help and advice on writing assignments from start to finish.

We also encourage students to take advantage of our many online tutoring services and learning resources. Receive help to better understand class content, get feedback on a writing assignment, learn to become a better note-taker in class, or gather tips for reducing stress. We want to help you succeed with your current assignments and discover the joys of lifelong learning!

Academic Coaching

Academic Coaching is a service provided through the Office of Developmental Education. Academic coaches are professional staff members who have experience working with students in a college setting. They have backgrounds in academic advising, career counseling, guidance counseling, and/or teaching at the college level.

Academic coaches can assist students who are:
  • Feeling overwhelmed with college
  • Getting nervous when taking tests
  • Forgetting what was studied
  • Time management issues
  • Various academic challenges

If you need to repeat a developmental education course after two unsuccessful attempts, please complete a Permission to Repeat packet.  The packet is available November - January for spring enrollment and from April to August for fall enrollment. Packets can be picked up at the Student Success Center. Please contact the Coordinator of Academic Support on your campus if you have any questions.
